So this month, we’ve decided to test the waters and share a bit more with you.
At Bobolink, we are always working on exciting and over the top projects, and May was no different.
What will this post be about, you ask? Well, about one of our most basic needs; food of course!
Yee Hwa has been our client for a few months now. We’ve been hired to design, photograph and basically reshape its online presence.
Being one of the most loved Japanese and Korean joints in Qatar, Yee Hwa, which translates to a Japanese flower, has been around for quite some time in the Qatari foodie scene, mastering the art of hospitality . It has also gathered quite a few followers and adepts of its traditional cuisine.

At Yee Hwa, not only can you enjoy a variety of tastes , but you get to experience the full Korean BBQ experience. What’s that you ask? You get to grill at your table!
This is why, when the team over at Yee Hwa agreed to let us work our magic,we jumped on the occasion to really show what this family restaurant is all about.
It wasn't just about showing you the mouthwatering dishes, the culinary artistry or even how sated you feel with the quantities served. It was more than that, we wanted to show you what a dining experience looks like at Yee Hwa.
From the stir frying pans, the BBQ table tops and the team’s never fading smiles.

As an agency, we embarked on this journey by first changing the logo. The old logo did not truly portray the delicate aspect you may think of when referring to Japanese & Korean origins. We made sure to extract its core and strip it from unnecessary overcrowding text and information.
This was the final result, a simple flower design portraying...well its name.
Next, the entire Instagram aesthetic was to be revised. Sure, scrolling down a feed full of delicious delicacies is pretty awesome, but what about substance?
We needed to create a personality for Yee Hwa; a sort of identity that jumps out at its audience and does not portray it as being just another “sushi place”. So we came up with what we think are simple yet playful applications for this local favorite.
Making the feed alive and interactive was the foremost of our focus, as was bringing in Yee Hwa’s own “mascots” : adorable little sushi characters that fill up the feed with high-spirited amusement. As it can be seen in one of the competitions launched back in January.
