1 - Introduce yourself:
My name is Pepe Bratanov. I’m the artist behind Peppy Colours - a pop art exploration of the unexpected fun and beauty that can be found in the everyday objects and the living things that surround us.
I’m also the creative director and co-founder of The Local Collective, a small independent ad agency in Toronto, Canada.

2 - Which artists inspire you and why?
Oh, where do I even start … there’re so many and I’m interested in so many different streams of art and design.
Daniel Arsham with his insane art and installations, Jeff Cole when it comes to basketball themed art, Paul Fuentes, J.M. Navarro and Tony Futura who all create really smart, beautiful and colourful mashup art … and the list goes on and on.
For me, Instagram has made finding new inspiration and artists so easy and accessible. I find a new artist that I love almost every day.
3 - What’s the most important thing to know about you? (3 most important things, not necessarily related to work)
Dedication. I obsess over things, not just work, but things in life and fully dedicate myself to them. And this is something that helps with my work too. Obviously obsessing over your work and crafting and perfecting is a good thing. As long as you don’t overdo it and you don’t lose your sanity doing it.
Also, I love soccer (playing and watching) and tiramisu.

4 - What qualities and skills should a designer have?
To be a great designer, you really need to have the full package.
Be curious, patient and conceptually adventurous, have great attention to detail, be passionate about your work and have a happy outlook. If you lack one or two of these, you’re still probably a really good designer, but the full package is what makes you or will make you a great designer.

5 - What are you most proud of?
Starting my own agency. It’s a lot of hard work and countless sleepless nights, but in the end it’s very rewarding knowing you’re doing it for yourself and not just helping a big agency network make more money off of your talents.

6 - What advice would you give for a young designer?
It’s never easy in the beginning. Don’t let a couple of NO’s deter you from pursuing whatever you’re after. Find your niche, the stuff you really, really love doing, the stuff that you’d happily lose sleep over and then craft your way all the way to the top. And make sure you find people that you really like working with/for. That stuff really matters.
