1 - Introduce yourself:

My name is Rafik El Hariri, I am a freelance Graphic designer and illustrator based in Lebanon. My work revolves around all things hermetic, mystic and magical within the mundane.

2 - Which artists inspire you and why?

René Magritte is one of my biggest inspirations. What I love about his paintings is that you don’t just look at it and dwell, you can actually “hear” how silent and serene his paintings are.

Also, Oliver Jeffers is one of my all time favorite illustrators. His books are a breakthrough in children literature; visually and literarily.

3 - What’s the most important thing to know about you? (3 most important things, not necessarily related to work)

I love reading about crystals and how each one can interact differently with Human energy. I’m really into Celtic folklore. I believe women will rule the world, one day.

4 - What qualities and skills should a designer have?

A designer should be relentlessly craving knowledge about almost everything, should always research about the latest updates in both the Design world and Tech world, let go of their ego when it comes to feedback about their work and most importantly remember that they should never be satisfied with their skillset and mindset.

5 - What are you most proud of?

An illustration/Animation based project I collaborated on a couple of years back for a big records company in the UK. It currently has 16 Million views on Youtube.

6 - What advice would you give for a young designer?

Do not seek validation; let it be intrinsic, deflect negative energy instead of absorbing it, and let social media be your best friend in showcasing your work.
