We have discussed the big importance of video content in the marketing strategies of businesses in a previous blog.
Well, it is evident that 2021 and onward is going to be the age of video marketing. Although this is old news, Instagram launched its version of TikTok called Reels.
We have already discussed the reason behind the launch of Instagram "Reels" in another blog. Instagram is evidently threatened by Tiktok’s boom, Tiktok has become a go-to application because its algorithm highly promotes organic reach and is a very engaging video-based application.
Instagram now has made the competition even fiercer and has made a major announcement that deserves every user’s attention.
So what’s next for the content sharing application’s coming updates?
"We are no longer a photo-sharing app," said Adam Mosseri, director of Instagram.

The reason for this shift is that video content is more interesting for younger users.
The statement that Instagram is no longer an application “to share square photos” hints at the prioritization of Reels, stories, and possibly a new format of video sharing.
Mosseri also hints that the reigning application will allow full-screen video viewing.
Employees at Instagram mentioned earlier that 'Exclusive Stories' could be a new type of monetization for the network.
These would be stories that would be only available to a creator's subscribers and could not be screenshotted.
